Senior Energy Analyst (THERM)

As part of our growth, we are currently looking for a motivated Senior Energy Analyst with 2-5 years experience to join our Energy Modeling group within our Energy Services Division. The Senior Energy Analyst will support Energy Project Managers and will be involved in high-profile sustainability projects – locally, nationally, and internationally - with the opportunity to work with major real estate developers, award-winning design firms, and top tier construction companies. The Senior Analyst will also be a technically proficient team player integrated into a team of talented professionals who have completed over 350 LEED projects worldwide, at the forefront of energy and materials innovation, and have been actively involved in the U.S. Green Building Council since its inception. Our project types are broad, including offices, multi-family residential (mid & high-rise), assembly, natatoriums, and art galleries and project sizes typically range from 100k to 2 million square feet. This position will report to the Principal within our Energy Division. If a junior applicant (2-3 years experience), you will be trained on construction materials and techniques with a focus on hygrothermal aspects. If a senior applicant (3-5 years experience), you will exchange information about techniques and methods, broadly collaborate with other Vidaris groups from concept through construction and manage client contact. Other general responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Perform calculations of U-value for various building assemblies (walls, thermal bridges, fenestration, roofs, etc), spanning the entire range of construction in multiple climate zones.
  • Perform dewpoint analyses
  • Document and maintain well written reports on project related activity
  • Communicate effectively and establish relationships with job related management teams
  • Provide cross-functional support to ensure client needs and internal timelines/project activities are completed
  • Maintain detailed documents and progression of work from beginning through completion
  • Attend in-house seminars and scheduled team meetings
  • Maintain established utilization levels
The candidate we are seeking will have the following qualifications, skill sets, and experience:
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Civil Engineering, Physics or Architecture;
  • US project experience with envelope U-value calculations using ASHRAE 90.1 Appendix A and THERM. (University course experience does not meet the requirement)
  • Knowledge and experience with ASHRAE Envelope section is required
  • Experience with COMCheck, WUFI, and CFD is preferred
  • Experience with building energy modeling using DOE-2, eQuest or EnergyPlus is a plus;
  • Knowledge of heat transfer, thermodynamics, and HVAC equipment;
  • Excellent analytical abilities;
  • Written and verbal communication skills;
  • Proficient in Microsoft software, particularly Excel;
  • Basic AutoCAD and Revit skills;
  • Computer programming knowledge is a plus as Vidaris often utilizes and develops custom analysis tools

Content Marketing Manager

Vidaris and its affiliates provide Building Envelope, Energy, Code, Dispute Resolution and Project Advisory consulting services supporting the development, construction, or redesign of assets in commercial market sectors. Vidaris and its affiliates are joining the SOCOTEC Group (parent company of Vidaris) to establish and create a powerful corporate and business content team, central to the Marketing and Communications Department. The position will be in charge of building the editorial strategy of our Company, working closely with Service Line Leaders, and the Marketing and Communications Department (at a national and international level). The position is responsible for the quality of editorial content and all external marketing content and communications of the SOCOTEC brand in the USA to ensure effective content and a strong narrative for each service line, the role will need to establish a standard schedule of contact and a direct relationship with our technical teams and Service Line leaders. Location:  Boston, MA with routine travel to New York City. Division of Role: Corporate, Marketing & Communications Dept.

Responsibilities of the Position:

  • Partner with Marketing Team, Service Line leaders, and technical teams to collect relevant content and develop strong narratives for all services.
  • Participate in developing overall content strategy and optimize content using marketing tools and programs.
  • Editorial responsibilities:
    • SEO knowledge
    • Content categorization and structure
    • Distribution and measurement of effectiveness
  • Produce content for all technology channels including but not limited to: websites (to be launched), brochures, social media, and industry sites.
  • Development of content calendar and workflows for all channels of marketing approach.
  • Develop thought leadership with strategic and operational focus of materials.
  • Accountable for content initiatives driving traffic, engagements, client, and industry leads.
  • Produce smart CTAs according to client lifecycle stage.
  • Collaborate across all functions to deliver effective strategy to meet business objectives.
  • Maintain awareness to global marketing trends including technology platforms and industry related avenues within each service line.

 Qualifications:

  • College degree with at least 5 years of professional experience in a marketing role, preferably for an architecture or engineering firm.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strategic thinker able to translate this into practical, workable solutions.
  • Ability to multi-task and drive simultaneous projects to a timely completion.
  • Industry knowledge is an asset: building envelope, specialty engineering, infrastructure, energy & sustainability, project advisory, dispute resolution, code advisory
  • Highly organized, self-driven individual who works well in a collaborative team environment.
  • Experience working directly with senior staff on business-critical projects.
  • Ability to be detail-oriented as well as see the bigger picture.
  • Strong ability to network internally and externally for broader industry reach.
  • Flexibility to manage and adjust course as business needs change.
  • Experience with HubSpot is preferred.
  • Fluent in InDesign and Microsoft Office. Familiarity with other Adobe Suite software is a plus.

Envelope Inspector

Responsibilities:

  • Understand exterior wall construction project phases including but not limited to shop drawing, modeling, design development and construction documents
  • Conducting field review and progress inspection on designated projects
  • Document and maintain well written reports on project related activity
  • Ensure familiarity with building codes in local markets
  • Advise Project manager on status, scheduling, effort of work and estimates for completion
  • Communicate effectively and establish relationships with clients and job related management teams
  • Providing cross-functional support to ensure client needs and internal timelines/project activities are completed
  • Maintain detailed documents and progression of work from initial proposal through completion
  • Present project related technical information to clients and design teams
  • Occasional presentation of white papercase studies to technical teams
  • Attend in-house seminars and scheduled team meetings
  • Maintain established utilization levels

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1-3 years working with building envelope design, inspection, development and/or engineering
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Engineering
  • Masters in Architecture and 1-3 years’ work experience preferred
  • Knowledge of broad architectural design theories/concepts and specific structural theories/concepts related to exterior wall construction
  • Experience using measurement devices
  • Minimum 10 hour OSHA certification
  • ICC certifications preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Excellent PC computer skills and experience with Microsoft Word or suitable document writing programs
  • Must demonstrate an ability to work in a dynamic team environment, to think outside the box, and solve complex problems
  • Ability to be detail-oriented as well as see the bigger picture
