Replacing Shea Stadium, the new Citi Field in Flushing Queens, is the new home of Major League Baseball’s New York Mets. The stadium opened on March 29, 2009 and features the widest unobstructed concourse in new sports and entertainment facilities, 54 luxury suites, a natural turf field, expansive field views and ample standing room. The new ballpark evokes memories of Ebbets Field while bringing over fan-favorites including the “Home Run Apple”. The grand entrance rotunda pays tribute to Jackie Robinson’s life and special contribution to baseball.

As building envelope consultants, Vidaris worked with the design team headed by HOK SVE through design development and construction document development. During construction, Vidaris monitored the installation of the exterior wall, roofing and waterproofing systems for the owner. The exterior façade of the stadium is comprised of brick and concrete-faced precast panels, stick-curtain wall with glass, corrugated metal panel and louvers and masonry. Inside the stadium, Vidaris inspected the suite glazing, storefronts and point supported glazing at the left field restaurant.
