Vidaris worked for Cornell through NYSERDA to analyze the energy use of North Martha Van Rensselaer Hall. The building provides laboratory, classroom, office, and commons space. The project also includes 86,000 square feet of ventilated garage.Reducing energy use for the project made it eligible for incentive funding, achieving LEED credits, and complying with NYS EO111. Vidaris determined the final design for this predominantly laboratory project is 47% better than ASHRAE 90.1-2004. The design overcame a very challenging glazing system design and a constant volume exhaust system, and resulted in what are exceptional savings for a laboratory.
