Silver Towers (River Place II)
|Location:||New York, NY|
|Architect:||Costas Kondylis & Partners, LLP|
|Client:||Silverstein Properties, Inc.|
Located on Manhattan’s West side at 42nd Street and 11th Avenue, Silver Towers has two residential towers on top of a six-story podium. The podium contains residential units as well as a few retail stores on the ground floor. There are 1,359 apartment units, all designed with the intent to maximize views of Manhattan and the Hudson River. The facade is comprised of window wall, pre-cast limestone, granite, and metal. Besides consulting on the building envelope, Vidaris also assisted with bidding, witnessed the full-performance mock-ups, wind tunnel testing and performed the shop and site monitoring. The offset floor plate and structural design was a challenge due to the coordination between the design and installation of the window wall and structure. Both towers were constructed simultaneously which was also logistically challenging.
