Wesleyan University – Fauver Field Residences
|Property:||University - Residential|
|LEED:||LEED NC Certified 2007|
This design/build project, undertaken by Konover Construction Corporation and designed by Newman Architects, consists of two separate residential buildings, the Freshman and Upper-class halls. Vidaris professionals conducted energy modeling and green services, including goal-setting, LEED-related specification edits, and filing assistance for the formal LEED application.
The energy analyses results showed that the two buildings save a total of 17 percent over the LEED baseline. The energy efficiency strategies implemented in the project include better envelope, efficient fluorescent lighting in sleeping quarters, occupancy sensors in corridors, and total energy recovery for outside ventilation air.
The two projects were also designed to provide ample daylight and extensive views of the outdoors.
Green features also include water-efficient plumbing fixtures (resulting in 20 percent water use reductions); extensive use of low-emitting materials (adhesives, sealants, paints, carpets, composite woods); use of recycled-content materials; and FSC-certified-wood for millwork and doors.
