Senior Energy Analyst (THERM)

As part of our growth, we are currently looking for a motivated Senior Energy Analyst with 2-5 years experience to join our Energy Modeling group within our Energy Services Division. The Senior Energy Analyst will support Energy Project Managers and will be involved in high-profile sustainability projects – locally, nationally, and internationally - with the opportunity to work with major real estate developers, award-winning design firms, and top tier construction companies. The Senior Analyst will also be a technically proficient team player integrated into a team of talented professionals who have completed over 350 LEED projects worldwide, at the forefront of energy and materials innovation, and have been actively involved in the U.S. Green Building Council since its inception. Our project types are broad, including offices, multi-family residential (mid & high-rise), assembly, natatoriums, and art galleries and project sizes typically range from 100k to 2 million square feet. This position will report to the Principal within our Energy Division. If a junior applicant (2-3 years experience), you will be trained on construction materials and techniques with a focus on hygrothermal aspects. If a senior applicant (3-5 years experience), you will exchange information about techniques and methods, broadly collaborate with other Vidaris groups from concept through construction and manage client contact. Other general responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Perform calculations of U-value for various building assemblies (walls, thermal bridges, fenestration, roofs, etc), spanning the entire range of construction in multiple climate zones.
  • Perform dewpoint analyses
  • Document and maintain well written reports on project related activity
  • Communicate effectively and establish relationships with job related management teams
  • Provide cross-functional support to ensure client needs and internal timelines/project activities are completed
  • Maintain detailed documents and progression of work from beginning through completion
  • Attend in-house seminars and scheduled team meetings
  • Maintain established utilization levels
The candidate we are seeking will have the following qualifications, skill sets, and experience:
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Civil Engineering, Physics or Architecture;
  • US project experience with envelope U-value calculations using ASHRAE 90.1 Appendix A and THERM. (University course experience does not meet the requirement)
  • Knowledge and experience with ASHRAE Envelope section is required
  • Experience with COMCheck, WUFI, and CFD is preferred
  • Experience with building energy modeling using DOE-2, eQuest or EnergyPlus is a plus;
  • Knowledge of heat transfer, thermodynamics, and HVAC equipment;
  • Excellent analytical abilities;
  • Written and verbal communication skills;
  • Proficient in Microsoft software, particularly Excel;
  • Basic AutoCAD and Revit skills;
  • Computer programming knowledge is a plus as Vidaris often utilizes and develops custom analysis tools

Energy Analyst

We are looking for a motivated Energy Analyst with 0-2 years experience to join our Energy Modeling group within our Energy Services Division. The Energy Analyst will support Energy Project Managers and will be involved in high-profile green projects – locally, nationally, and internationally - with the opportunity to work with major real estate developers, award-winning design firms, and top tier construction companies. The Analyst will also be a technically proficient team player integrated into a team of talented Vidaris professionals who have completed over 350 LEED projects worldwide, at the forefront of energy and materials innovation, and have been actively involved in the U.S. Green Building Council since its inception. This position will report to a manager within our Energy division and will involve a variety of general functions, including but not limited to:
  • Learn modeling procedures of Vidaris
  • Model buildings using eQuest and/or EnergyPlus
  • Train in areas related to modeling (e.g., on architectural issues if the main experience is HVAC)
  • Document and maintain well written reports on project related activity
  • Communicate effectively and establish relationships with job related management teams
  • Provide cross-functional support to ensure client needs and internal timelines/project activities are completed
  • Maintain detailed documents and progression of work from beginning through completion
  • Attend in-house seminars and scheduled team meetings
  • Maintain established utilization levels
  • If desired by the Energy Analyst and acceptable to their Energy Project Manager(s), a remote work option (hybrid or full-time) is available. Remote work would be balanced with the necessary training and mentorship for the position and video communication for meetings would be expected.
The candidate we are seeking will have the following qualifications, skill sets, and experience:
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Civil Engineering, Physics or Architecture;
  • Experience with building energy modeling using DOE-2, eQuest or EnergyPlus preferred;
  • Knowledge of heat transfer, thermodynamics, and HVAC equipment;
  • Familiarity with building design drawings and construction;
  • Excellent analytical abilities;
  • Written and verbal communication skills;
  • Proficient in Microsoft software, particularly Excel;

  • THERM, WUFI, CFD knowledge is a plus;

Sustainability Analyst

We are looking for a motivated Sustainability Analyst with 0-2 years experience to join our Green Group within our Energy Services Division. The Sustainability Analyst will support Sustainability Project Managers and will be involved in high-profile green projects – locally, nationally, and internationally - with the opportunity to work with major real estate developers, award-winning design firms, and top tier construction companies. The Analyst will also be a technically proficient team player integrated into a team of talented Vidaris professionals who have completed over 350 LEED projects worldwide, at the forefront of energy and materials innovation, and have been actively involved in the U.S. Green Building Council since its inception. This position reports to the Associates within our Green division with strong opportunity for advancement. Tasks and responsibilities will involve a variety of general functions, including but not limited to:
  • Assist project teams in pursuing building certifications;
  • Analyze sustainable opportunities in design and construction of project work;
  • Train in areas related to sustainability\LEED activity;
  • Document and maintain well written reports on project related activity;
  • Perform research on emerging concepts in the Sustainability field
  • Communicate effectively and establish relationships with job related management teams;
  • Providing cross-functional support to ensure client needs and internal timelines/project activities are completed;
  • Maintain detailed documents and progression of work from initial proposal through completion;
  • Present project related technical information to design teams;
  • Occasional presentation of white paper\case studies to in-house technical teams;
  • Attend in-house seminars and scheduled team meetings;
  • Maintain established utilization levels.
The candidate we are seeking will have the following qualifications, skill sets, and experience:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Architecture, Interior Design, or Engineering or similar is preferred, but other qualifications will be evaluated;
  • 0-2 years’ experience in building; sustainability focus/experience is highly desirable;
  • LEED AP or WELL AP with specialty designation is highly desirable;
  • Relevant experience in sustainability certifications (LEED, WELL, ESG, etc) a plus;
  • Excellent analytical abilities;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to independently manage multiple tasks while maintaining focus and attention to detail;
  • Proficient in Microsoft software, particularly Excel;

The Project Manager will also be a technically proficient team player integrated into a team of talented Vidaris professionals who have completed over 350 LEED projects worldwide, at the forefront of energy and materials innovation, and have been actively involved in the U.S. Green Building Council since its inception. Vidaris’ services encompass all aspects of the “sustainable building”, working with Clients & Teams from project inception, through design and construction, and into the post-occupancy continuous improvement cycle. We work extensively with the LEED Building Rating System, the WELL Building Standard, ESG Planning & Reporting tools, the NYC Construction Authority’s Green Schools Guidelines, NYSERDA, Fitwel, BREEAM, Health Product Declaration Collaborative and other programs. The candidate we are seeking will have the following qualifications, skill sets, and experience:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering or similar with a design/construction related focus; a Master’s degree is highly desirable.
  • 3-7 years’ proven sustainability project management experience; LEED experience is required, WELL and/or ESG project management experience is highly desirable;
  • LEED AP or WELL AP with specialty designation.
  • Fitwel Ambassador, Living Future Accreditation (LFA), and/or Certified Passive House Consultant (CPHC) is highly desirable.
