Jennifer Sze

Registered Architect: NY Other Certifications: USGBC LEED AP Education: Masters in Design Studies, Sustainable Design - Harvard University Bachelors in Architecture - The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art   Ms. Sze is committed to integrating energy efficiency with the building envelope. She works closely with developers, owners, and architects to develop high-performing systems that meet the industry’s most stringent criteria, including Passive House. Her expertise includes curtain wall, prefabricated metal panel, precast, and window wall. A holistic approach is the backbone of Vidaris’ work, and Ms. Sze works with clients to help them understand the interaction between the facade, the building structure, mechanical systems, and lighting systems both from a performance standpoint as well as from constructability and cost. Her early days as an inspector on construction sites and in fabrication shops provided a strong foundation for her current work. She is a Registered Architect in New York.

Dan Popadynec

Professional Engineer: NY, PA, Ontario Education: Postgraduate Diploma in Construction Project Management – University of Dublin (Trinity College), Ireland Bachelor Degree in Applied Science and Engineering, Civil Engineering – University of Toronto, Canada   Mr. Popadynec is a Professional Engineer with over 17 years of international building envelope expertise. The breadth of his experience spans consulting, design, testing, manufacturing, installation, special inspection and rehabilitation. He has focused primarily on new construction and has completed over 50 ground-up building projects. Assisting clients from the conceptual stages of a project through completion, he has participated in laboratory mock-ups where wall specimens were tested for air/water infiltration, high wind loading, extreme seismic movement and blast resistance. He has investigated facade-related failures on several iconic buildings. Mr. Popadynec has a sound understanding of various technologies and how to combine them into a robust, economical and sustainable enclosure. He provides his clients value-added ideas, up-to-date industry knowledge and a practical know-how gained from years on project sites. A skilled communicator and thoughtful leader, Mr. Popadynec effectively manages a team of over 40 consultants and inspectors and is currently a part of several technical committees that are developing the next generation of industry standards and building codes. He was promoted to Director of New Construction Facades in 2016. Mr. Popadynec had his start in New York in 2002 managing stone panel repair and reconstruction at three buildings damaged on 9/11. He is especially proud and honored to have consulted and managed the building envelope inspections for two of the new towers that rose at Ground Zero.

Zachary Nord

Professional Engineer: FL, NY Education: Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering, Structural Concentration - Drexel University Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering - Drexel University   With the firm since 2010, Mr. Zachary Nord specializes in the design, testing and construction of exterior building envelope systems. System experience includes various facade types (curtain wall, window wall, masonry, terra cotta, metal panels, brick veneer, and precast concrete) as well as the varying roofing and waterproofing applications (re-roofs, repairs, leak investigations, new roofs, plazas, below-grade) for both new and existing buildings. In 2016, Mr. Nord became the Director - Southeast Region, heading Vidaris’ Miami office and coordinating all efforts there for both new and existing buildings. He also serves as Director of Roofing and Waterproofing, managing a team working on a range of projects varying from complicated to iconic to everything in between. In his role, Mr. Nord leads design consulting, forensic investigations, supervises shop and site inspections, and monitors laboratory mock-up tests for new ground up construction as well as existing buildings. Additionally, he has experience with exterior envelope-related insurance claim support due to natural disasters, dispute resolution and litigation support.

William Logan

Registered Architect: NY Education: Master in Architecture - Harvard University Graduate School of Design Bachelor of Architecture – Princeton University   After attending Princeton University’s School of Architecture and Harvard’s Graduate School of Design, Mr. William Logan spent seven years in Europe working with Renzo Piano, Richard Rogers, Peter Rice and Frei Otto on several innovative and challenging building projects. Upon his return to the U.S., he has had the privilege of working with numerous internationally-known architects including Cesar Pelli, Norman Foster, Bernard Tschumi and many others, on numerous projects. As an Architect, he specializes in implementing the designer’s architectural intent through vigorous analysis and studies, presented in sketch form. In addition, he draws on a deep background and understanding of performance requirements, fabrication technologies, testing and constructability issues. He has served as a primary curtain wall consultant for some of the tallest and most complex buildings in the world, including the Twin Towers of the Kuala Lumpur City Center, International Finance Center of Hong Kong and many others. Developers and Architects have depended on Mr. Logan’s advice and counsel on selecting cladding systems, design criteria and contracting parties on some of the world’s highest profile projects. His work encompasses many building types, including commercial, residential, academic and medical in the United States, Europe, and South America.

Robert LiMandri

Education: Master of Science in Real Estate – New York University, New York, New York Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering – Clarkson University, Potsdam, New York   Mr. LiMandri joined Vidaris in 2014, bringing with him strategic leadership experience and innovation. Mr. LiMandri oversees the company’s Code Advisory division, delivering comprehensive solutions based on a deep understanding of building code and NYC zoning. He also explores strategic service offerings that can bridge current gaps within the complex real estate and construction market in New York City and other metropolitan markets around the country. Mr. LiMandri also serves as a member of the Management Committee. Before joining Vidaris, Mr. LiMandri served as New York City Department of Buildings Commissioner. He is an operational executive with a history of leadership in commercial real estate, construction, development standards, and oversight—with a tenure punctuated by widespread changes in building safety standards, technology initiatives, green building innovation, and code updates. Drawing on his background in fiscal oversight and P&L management, he has managed budgets exceeding $200M, in addition to a team of 1,100 attorneys, engineers, inspectors, and architects. His leadership impact can be felt throughout the city’s real estate industry with enhanced safety awareness, stringent mandates for construction, and quality and advances in sustainability. In addition, his innovative approach to technology utilization has saved his customers millions in staff time, while boosting customer satisfaction with the launch of cutting-edge online collaboration tools such as the paperless virtual approval of plans at the HUB, 3D site safety review, and a smart phone app. Mr. LiMandri has also held positions at Realfoundations as a management consultant, Jones Lang LaSalle managing Class A office, Columbia University, and Honeywell Corporation.

John Amatruda

Registered Architect: CT, NY Other Certifications: LEED Fellow, BREEAM International Assessor Education: Bachelor of Architecture – Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute   John Amatruda has 31 years of professional experience. As the leader of Vidaris’ Green Services department, he specializes in environmentally conscious design and the evaluation of “green” materials and systems. He has worked as a consultant on over 90 LEED projects nationwide and internationally, using all variations of the LEED commercial program (including NC, CS, CI, EBOM, ND, and Schools). He also has authored a number of green building studies and publications, including the GSA LEED Cost Study for the US General Services Administration, the NYC Department of Buildings’ Energy Code Compliance Study, and the Green Material Selection Guidelines for the web-based Whole Building Design Guide. Mr. Amatruda has been a LEED Accredited Professional since 2001, and was the first LEED AP registered in the State of Connecticut. He was also one of the first 30 faculty members hired by the USGBC, and was named a LEED Fellow in 2013. He is additionally accredited as an International Assessor under the United Kingdom’s BREEAM green building rating system.

Michael Chen

Professional Engineer: NY Education: Masters in Civil Engineering - Massachusetts Institute of Technology Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering - Massachusetts Institute of Technology   Mr. Michael Chen has specialized in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on structural engineering since 2003. With Vidaris since 2007, he has worked on a variety of large and small commercial, institutional and residential projects. He has experience with different types of wall systems such as masonry, window wall, curtain wall, precast, prefabricated panels, and reclad. Mr. Chen is responsible for field inspection of exterior cladding systems, consulting, report writing and shop drawing review. He also performs structural analysis of glass and wall systems and is involved in mockup testing.

Stanford Chan

Registered Architect: NY Education: Bachelor of Architecture - The Cooper Union School of Architecture   Mr. Stanford Chan has extensive experience with consulting and monitoring on various exterior envelope and roofing systems. His experience includes new construction, re-clads, overclads, restoration, window replacement, and storefront replacement. He has extensive knowledge of the following systems: masonry (veneer and multi-wythe walls), curtain wall, window wall, and various roof systems. As Director of the Restoration Division and the Flood Mitigation Division, his current work includes managing a technical team of over 20, overseeing all projects while working closely with Clients, writing specifications, preparing and detailing architectural drawings and reviewing shop drawings. A few notable Landmark Buildings he has worked on are Carnegie Hall, The Hearst Building, One Chase Plaza and 570 Lexington Avenue (The GE Building). Also serving as the Director of Flood Mitigation Services (FMS), Mr. Chan formed the division in 2013 in response to Hurricane Sandy. Vidaris has since provided consulting services for: NYC Blood Center, 7 World Trade Center, 80 Pine Street, 173-176 Perry Street, and 55 Water Street, among others.

Israel Berger

Registered Architect: NY Other Certifications: FAIA Education: Bachelor of Architecture – Pratt Institute   Mr. Israel Berger is the founder of Israel Berger and Associates, now a part of Vidaris Inc. Mr. Berger has been a specialist in the design and construction of building envelopes for over 35 years. He has directed the consulting, testing and inspection of curtain walls, windows, metal cladding, pre-cast, masonry walls, roofing and composite assemblies world-wide. In addition, he has directed the façade restoration and re-cladding on many significant projects, including listed landmark buildings. Developers, architects and construction managers have depended on his advice and counsel on selecting cladding systems, design criteria and contracting parties on some of the world’s highest profile projects. His work encompasses many building types, including commercial, residential and institutional in the United States, Europe, the Far East, the Middle East, and South America. Mr. Berger’s technical expertise, creative thinking, experience, and a deep familiarity with the façade and roofing industries allow him, along with the professionally diverse members of the firm, to make key judgment calls on which our clients rely during all stages of the design and construction process. Through Mr. Berger’s leadership, technical guidance and expertise, many architects and developers achieve success in creating building envelopes noted for their architectural expression, quality, functionality and durability, with emphasis on energy efficiency and value.

Alexander Argento

Education: Bachelor of Art in History - Oglethorpe University, Atlanta, Georgia   Mr. Argento joined the firm in 1998, and over the years has served as Corporate Secretary, Treasurer, and Vice President. Mr. Argento had a senior leadership role in combining the operations of Israel Berger & Associates and Viridian Energy & Environmental in 2011.  In 2012, he continued in the development of the technical and administrative operations of Vidaris, Inc. - now serving as the conduit and corporate framework through which all brands and current service offerings are provided. Currently, as the Senior Vice President and Director of Operations he oversees and provides leadership for client communications, contract negotiations, administration and the business development departments.  As Vidaris continues to grow, he coordinates the opening and management of satellite offices. Mr. Argento’s work as a senior relationship manager for Vidaris can be exemplified on projects, such as MGM City Center in Las Vegas, Nevada and the Hotel Bel Air in Beverly Hills, California.  Currently he is collaborating with Vidaris’ senior management team in the performance of our services on the World Trade Center redevelopment project in New York City which comprises approximately 7 million square feet of commercial, office, retail and institutional construction. Before joining Vidaris, Mr. Argento worked as a Project Manager for Pavarini Construction.
